What it does:
Blackmores Sinus and Hayfever Relief (previously called Horseradish, Garlix + Vit C) is a specially formulated combination of four therapeutic ingredients: Horseradish, Garlic, Fenugreek and Vitamin C, traditionally used to provide relief sinusitis, hayfever and nasal congestion:
- Contains horseradish, a nasal and bronchial dilator of benefit in the relief of nasal congestion
- Helps to relieve the symptoms of hayfever
- Helps to relieve the symptoms of sinusitis by clearing the sinuses and reducing mucous congestion
- Contains vitamin C which may reduce the duration of colds
What is in it?
- Horseradish - Mustard oils, the pungent compounds found in horseradish, are thought to be the constituents which give it its traditionally recognised decongestant effect. Horseradish has been found to have antibiotic properties and clears the respiratory passages.
- Garlic - traditionally been used for the relief of respiratory catarrh, recurrent colds, and flu. Garlic has been shown to have antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiprotozoal and antiparasitic properties. Garlix®, contains both alliin and allinase and exhibits a standardised allicin-releasing potential equivalent to 1.4 mg of allicin per tablet (allicin is one of the sulphur-containing compounds responsible for the antimicrobial action of garlic).
- Fenugreek - acts as a demulcent which helps to soothe inflamed mucous membranes. Vitamin C is important in immunity as it is involved in the function of white blood cells and antibodies. It is therefore beneficial in dealing with mild respiratory tract infections.
