Bilberry 2500 Tablets 40 Blackmores
What it does:
Blackmores Bilberry 2500 contains anthocyanosides, a group of reddish-purple pigments found to significantly improve night vision and aid the function of the retina. Assists in relief of visual fatigue and eye strain, and is useful for those performing fine detailed work. The actions of Bilberry are primarily due to its content of flavonoid compounds known as anthocyanosides, and research has centred on these compounds. The antioxidant activity of the herb is of interest for those eye conditions that are related to free radical damage, where they may offer some protection. Bilberry also has the ability to normalise capillary permeability and may be protective against eye conditions of circulatory origin and other varicose conditions generally. Other indications for the herb include reduced night vision, eye strain, glare sensitivity and visual fatigue from over-use.
Bilberry may also be of benefit for those performing fine detail work, or having a heavy demand on the visual process eg: airline pilots, students, computer terminal operators, and night drivers. It is presumed that its action in these circumstances relates to its ability to help maintain rhodopsin stores, which may be depleted during periods of extended visual work.
What is in it?
- Vaccinium myrtillus (Bilberry) extract - standardised to contain anthocyanosides (which have been shown to exhibit antioxidant properties and to assist in capillary function and integrity)
