Milk Thistle has a protective effect on cell membranes due to its strong antioxidant and free radical scavenging action. Research has endorsed the use of Milk Thistle in the treatment of liver intoxication, chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver, however it is more commonly indicated to relieve symptoms of sluggish digestive or liver function (for example inability to digest fats or alcohol).
