Elecampane and White Horehound are popular expectorant herbs in Western herbal medicine, where they’re traditionally used to relieve mild bronchial coughs.

Elecampane is also traditionally used as a lung tonic and is regarded as having decongestant properties to clear bronchial mucous congestion in Western herbal medicine.
White Horehound is traditionally known for its benefits for spasmodic, dry or unproductive coughs in Western herbal medicine.
Balloonflower: used in traditional Chinese medicine for relief of coughs. Balloonflower is a herb that’s often used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to ease symptoms of the common cold, including cough.
Chinese Licorice: traditionally used to ease coughs with excess phlegm. In Chinese medicine, Chinese Licorice is often used alongside balloonflower in a traditional formulation known as Jie Geng Tang; both herbs are traditionally taken to support lung health, with Balloonflower dispersing lung Qi (energy) to achieve this.
Chinese Licorice is also traditionally used to relieve a dry, unproductive cough and to soothe mild bronchial irritation.

Adult dose: To relieve cough: Take 2 capsules three times a day, or as professionally prescribed. As a lung tonic: Take 2 capsules two times a day, or as professionally prescribed.

- Pinellia (Pinellia ternata) tuber 35mg, dry equiv. 350mg
- Aster (Aster tataricus) root and rhizome 60mg, dry equiv. 300mg
- Stemona (Stemona sessilifolia) root 60mg, dry equiv. 300mg
- Houttuynia (Houttuynia cordata) herb top 30mg, dry equiv. 300mg
